Dear Parents,

Unfortunately, due to the fact that we were unable to get everyone on board with the trip deposits for Chicago by the first deposit deadline we had set, the price for the Chicago trip has gone up significantly. This was primarily due to a recent rise in airfare. What we originally thought was going to be $850 per person is now at approx $1,100, with fewer things on the itinerary. Also, the trip was initially quoted for 100 travelers and we had around 70. We completely understand that it's a sign of the times during a bad economy that it's very difficult to afford such a trip. Based on that information we have discussed with Mr. Roseboom putting an out-of-state trip of this magnitude and expense on the back-burner until 2013.

Mr. Roseboom has come up with another wonderful trip opportunity. This plan provides more students with an opportunity to perform, makes it much more affordable for the families and will still be an awesome addition to the band’s resume. The proposed trip is to Orlando for the approximate dates of 3/11-3/13 (we have not nailed this down yet). This would include performances by Sailor Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band at the Festival Disney concerts at Hollywood Studios. Admirals can perform at the Disney Jazz Festival and Marching Band can march through Hollywood Studios. We will be working on the specifics, but wanted to update you with the latest. This trip will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $250 - $300 per person. We are working every angle to make it affordable.
